Sold as a child bride…

Leila’s* family were very poor and sold their ten yer old daughter as a child bride. But her husband turned out to be a drug addict and made his bride prostitute herself to feed his addiction. A local Pastor heard of her story as he had rescued her mother from prostitution by offering cleaning work so she could feed the family. Out of the kindness of his heart he then also offered Leila work although he was poor himself. When I met this young girl she was withdrawn, didn’t smile and her eyes were filled with deep sorrow. I will never forget her face. Her life was stolen by the poverty of her family and the addiction of her husband. She had no say and no other place to go.
